We connected with Ky-mani Marley over the weekend and got a copy of the first single off his upcoming album Radio that will be in stores September 25th.

Shaggy to make virtual appearance in Second Life

According to the blog Second Life Insider, Reggae superstar Shaggy will be making his first-ever virtual appearance on the web tomorrow in popular virtual world Second Life.

Shaggy is hosting the MOBO Awards this year and this virtual event will serve to promote his upcoming album release Intoxication from VP Records/Big Yard Music. The flyer states that Shaggy will be previewing tracks from the album and there will be limited edition Second Life merchandise. Participants will also have the chance to win autographed CDs in real life.

The blog indicate that the virtual world appearance is “the work of digital advertising agency Silence and award-winning Second Life developers The Guild.” You can watch the event live at SLCN.tv and see how a Caribbean musician is using an interesting part of web culture to promote himself and his music.

Realvibez gets upgraded

Wow...the last few days have been spent in front of the computer for far too long.

The upgraded Realvibez.com has been launched, for the most part. Check out the new front page - complete with a news feed, a featured video, easier browsing, a new VibezNine list and finally a Popular Artist list.

The main pages for the Reggae and Dancehall section have undergone similar upgrades and the Soca and Radio pages are next.

The idea is to make the site as simple as possible to navigate - user experience is critical to us and the layout must reflect this. Leave some feedback and let us know what you think.

We still have a few pages to convert but we hope you find this upgraded site more appealing to your eyes, easier to navigate and find the videos you want to find.

Big up Rihanna

If you were watching the MTV VMA's live from Las Vegas last night you would know that Rihanna did the Caribbean and Barbados proud - walking away with two awards - Monster Single of the Year (the first ever such award) and Video of the Year for Umbrella.

She performed alongside Chris Brown - who stole the show big time with his set - singing her part of the Umbrella Remix. Rihanna's music crosses many genres and Caribbean people should be proud of her achievements. She has never distanced herself from the Caribbean and we look forward to continued success.
