As you can tell, we made one major change to the website in the last 24 hours - we added a "Realvibez Billboard" at the top of the site and pushed the banner ad
above that.
The reasoning is two-fold but one takes the highest priority -
user experience.
(1)
Branding - The new top graphic allows us to promote the new image that will represent
Realvibez - the dj spinning on the turntables. We will soon post the t-shirt designs for all to see.
When we think of what represents Caribbean music, we think of
turntables,
big speakers and
45s (records).
and the most important reason:
(2)
User Experience - We have received some complaints in the last few weeks, as well as advice from one of our advisors, concerning the rich media ads on the site popping down and blocking the videos.
The most recent complaint said that the person couldn't watch the videos because the ads dropped down every 30 seconds - so we fixed it. The space at the top allows the ad to drop down without interfering with the video experience. MTV and many other sites have these ads so we aren't going to remove them - they pay well and they have become standards - but we can prevent them from annoying our users.
We built this site for you - so feel free to contact us via the
contact page and let us know what you like or don't like.
Ultimately, we highly recommend that you use Firefox or Safari to surf the site (and the rest of the web) - they are safer and the ads don't pop down in most cases.
