What's next?

We have changed the way our banner advertising works so that the ads don't pop down every 60 seconds, hope you enjoy.

Rich media ads really can be annoying, but for now they are in high demand across the web, even seen them on CNN.com and MTV.com so it seems that they are here to stay for now.

We expect the college tour to start off well in South Florida and look forward to meeting old and new friends. Interacting with people is the most fun part of the tour, make sure your school gets visited by filling out the contact form and telling us which school we need to come to. We plan to go up the entire East Coast.

What's next?

We expect to have added features, some old ones and some new, by mid-week next week. We plan to add a couple more buttons to the main menu: Radio, News, Community will be the new ones.

We will also debut a new radio setup in addition to the Slacker radio, one that will have mix CDs from various sounds and the latest music that we choose to feature. We are diligently working to add more videos to the site. The main project right now is adding our entire catalog of older videos to create the largest catalog of classic Caribbean music videos on the web.

Look out for the announcement when those all go live. Lastly, our college tour starts in September.

Realvibez begins its college tour in South Florida, visiting campuses of schools like University of Miami, FIU and more. We will slowly work our way up the east coast as the semester progresses and take photo at each stop. Sponsors include Air Jamaica and VP Records so look out for free giveaways.

Feedback time

It has been 3 months since launch and we want your feedback. We intend to check in periodically with our visitors because this site was built for you.

Many people have made use of our contact page and we genuinely appreciate the feedback, especially the one about the banner ads making it hard to watch the videos - we fixed that in a few hours and the site looks even better.

We would love to know the following:

What makes you visit realvibez?

What do you associate it with?

What is your favorite section and why?

What is your least favorite and why?

Do you recommend it to friends?

What would you change and why?

We look forward to the answers. You can either comment below or email is at contact@realvibez.com

Thanks

China Wine - Sun ft. Wyclef, Tony Matterhorn, Elephant Man

Check out this new video, waiting for our copy. Beat wicked, Matterhorn holds his own, Ele reuses some old lyrics but still got the energy and Wyclef kicks it off decent.

Some might not like other people doing dancehall but this tune going to buss a yard.

Major change

As you can tell, we made one major change to the website in the last 24 hours - we added a "Realvibez Billboard" at the top of the site and pushed the banner ad above that.

The reasoning is two-fold but one takes the highest priority - user experience.

(1) Branding - The new top graphic allows us to promote the new image that will represent Realvibez - the dj spinning on the turntables. We will soon post the t-shirt designs for all to see.

When we think of what represents Caribbean music, we think of turntables, big speakers and 45s (records).

and the most important reason:

(2) User Experience - We have received some complaints in the last few weeks, as well as advice from one of our advisors, concerning the rich media ads on the site popping down and blocking the videos.

The most recent complaint said that the person couldn't watch the videos because the ads dropped down every 30 seconds - so we fixed it. The space at the top allows the ad to drop down without interfering with the video experience. MTV and many other sites have these ads so we aren't going to remove them - they pay well and they have become standards - but we can prevent them from annoying our users.

We built this site for you - so feel free to contact us via the contact page and let us know what you like or don't like.

Ultimately, we highly recommend that you use Firefox or Safari to surf the site (and the rest of the web) - they are safer and the ads don't pop down in most cases.
